Greatest World Series Game Ever?
In their “World Series 100th Anniversary” countdown, ESPN selected the 1991 World Series as the “Greatest of All Time.”
The Series pitted the Minnesota Twins (95–67) of the American League against the Atlanta Braves (94–68) of the National League. The series was played from Saturday, October 19 to Sunday, October 27. Five of the games were decided by a single run, four games decided in the final at-bat and three games going into extra innings.
In the tenth inning of a scoreless Game 7, an injured Gene Larkin went to the plate to pinch hit. On the first pitch he saw, Larkin drove a single into deep left field, scoring Dan Gladden with the series-winning run and giving the Twins their second world championship since moving to Minnesota. For the first time since 1962, a seventh game of the World Series ended with a 1–0 verdict.
Do you agree with this verdict? One thing most everyone agrees about is the effectiveness of The Hitting Jack-It™ System – the world’s leading variable-weighted hitting system for baseball and fastpitch that dramatically improves player performance.
